Dhuhr Prayer

How Do Dohr's Prayer?

The prayer of Dhuhr (noon) is composed of 4 units of prayer (rak'at). To make salat ad-dhouhr, it is necessary to make 2 units, and at the end of these, to get up and to redo 2 units. All steps are detailed below. If you do not know how to pray 2 units, go to our page dedicated to salat al fajr .

When to pray to Dhouhr, and until when?

Dohr's prayer begins when the sun goes down towards the sunset (15 min after the zenith). It ends when the shadow of each object equals its size, ie just at the entrance of the prayer of the asr .

How to pray ad-dhuhr?

The Dohr salat is 4 rakat, 2x2 prayer units:

  • Plan to pray ad-adhouhr
  • Make a prayer unit
  • Take another rak'a
  • At the end of the 2nd raka, recite only the tashahhud
  • Stand up for the 3rd unit, and just recite the fatiha
  • Then do a 4th and last unit, reciting only the fatiha too
  • At the end of this rak'a, recite the tashahhud and the ibrahimiya prayer
  • Pass the salam on the right then on the left

Your dohr prayer is over. You notice that unlike a 2-unit prayer, only the fatiha is recited during standing of the 3rd and 4th raka'a . Note that during the first 2 rakat, the recitation is done in a low voice.
