The Statute of Prayer in Islam

Is the prayer obligatory?

The 5 daily prayers are mandatory for every Muslim and Muslim major and saints. The irrefutable proof in this verse where Allah said:

{[...] Prayer remains for believers a prescription at fixed times.} [Surah 4 - Verse 103]

He also says:

{Be diligent in prayers and especially in the median prayer; and stand before Allah with humility.} [Surah 2 - Verse 238]

Whoever does not pray is he Muslim?

There are 2 cases. He who does not pray because he denies this obligation is a kafir unanimously scientists. As for the one who recognizes but does not practice it remains a believer (majority opinion). In the Hanbalites, even in this case, he becomes kafir. Although this opinion is not the majority, the divergence must be respected. This legal opinion illustrates that the matter of prayer is of the utmost importance and should not be taken lightly.
