The importance of Shaban month

Shaban, a neglected month to which people are carefree

There are several reasons for this fast and the prophet (sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam) mentioned among them the fact that this month is between 2 important months, the holy month (Rajab) and the month of Siyam (Ramadan), makes people care only for the latter 2 and therefore do not pay attention to Shaban.

Many people think that the fast of Rajab is more meritorious than that of Cha'ban because it is a sacred month. The word of the prophet (sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam) "to which people do not pay attention, between Rajab and Ramadan ..." indicates that what is known for its merit by in relation to time, place, or person, there may be someone other than him who is more meritorious and to whom people do not pay attention! So they take care of what is known, famous and therefore miss the merit of what is not known among them.

Fasting before Ramadan and after is like prayers after the prescribed

The fast of Shaban is better than the fast of the sacred months and the best of the supererogatory fasts (atatawou '). He is one who is close to Ramadan, and his status in relation to the Ramadan fast is like that of "sunan ar-Rawatib" with obligatory prayers before and after. And just like the "sunan ar-rawatib", they complement the deficiencies and imperfections of the mandatory ones.

Fill people's moments of inattention with acts of obedience

It is advisable (istihbab) to fill people's moments of inattention with moments of worship. It is for this reason that it is recommended to evoke Allah when entering the market because it is a dhikr in a place of inattention where people are concerned about their purchases.

Shaban a month to train

It was also mentioned as meaning for the fast of Shaban that it is like a training for that of Ramadan. Thus the Muslim will not enter the Ramadan fast with difficulty. He will have been trained before and his body will get used to it. He will have found in fasting Shaban the sweetness and the pleasure of fasting, enough to enter the month of Ramadan with strength and tone.

This month of Cha'ban is like an introduction to Ramadan. It includes the same things like fasting, reading the Quran and sadaqat. Salama ibn Souhayl (radiallahu 'anhu) said: "The month of Shaban is the month of the readers" and Habib ibn Thabit ( radiallahu 'anhu) said when Shaban came in: "It's readers' month! "And‘ Amru ibn Qayss al-Mulay (radiallahu 'anhum) closed his shop and devoted himself to reading the Quran.
