Every year, millions of Muslims fast from dawn to sunset and participate in activities that test their self-control and draw them closer to Allah, such as reading the Quran, giving charity, and others. This year, Ramadan started on the evening of Sunday, March 1, with fasting beginning the following morning, Monday. The Holy month of Ramadan begins on a different date each year. Each year, the holiday begins around 11 days earlier than the preceding year. The appearance of the crescent moon always determines the exact date.

When Ramadan ends, the Muslim Ummah celebrates Eid-al-Fitr. This blog will teach us about Eid, things to do today, and when it is this year. Let’s read on!

When is Eid-Al-Fitr 2025?

Based on Ramadan 2024 beginning on March 1, we expect Eid al-Fitr to happen on or around March 30. Eid al-Fitr is one of the significant holidays in Islam’s Hijri calendar, based on a 12-month lunar cycle. Eid al-Fitr celebrates the completion of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Hijri calendar, and the beginning of Shawwal, the tenth. Every month starts with a fresh crescent. The Hijri month can range from 29 to 30 days, depending on ouractuall and estimated viewing capacity. So, if the moon is not visible on the 29th or 30th day of the lunar cycle, the new month begins after the 30th day of the last lunar month. Every month starts with a fresh crescent.

This date is for Eid-ul-Fitr 2025, USA; the date might change depending on the country and the start of Ramadan. In a few countries, this date differs from one day. This means that they celebrate Eid after one day. The main reason is that most people rely on the prophetic tradition of seeing the moon with the naked eye. This causes Muslims in the exact world locations to begin Ramadan on various dates. As a result, there may be gaps in calculating when Eid al-Fitr 2025 will occur.
